Erebia euryale (Esper, [1805])
Range: Endemic to Europe, occurs in the mountains of S Europe as well as the taiga zone of European Russia from just E of the Finnish border to Ural.
Distribution in Bulgaria: Mountains from 900 to 2600 m a.s.l.
Habitat: Grassy places in or near coniferous forests: glades, roads, clearings, slopes, subalpine meadows, etc.
Bionomics: One generation from June till September. Larval host-plants: grasses (Poaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).
Conservation status: Common and widespread. IUCN category: Lower risk, least concern.
