Range: Eurasia.
Distribution in Bulgaria: The whole country up to over 2900 m a.s.l.
Habitat: Not associated with any particular habitat type, can be met with virtually everywhere.
Bionomics: One generation from June to October, hibernates and reappears next spring. Larval host-plant: Urtica (Urticaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).
Conservation status: One of the most widespread and common butterflies in Bulgaria. IUCN category: Lower risk, least concern.
